Picture your evening

Consultation has concluded

Our City Centre has started to see a change in the diversity of activities. Council would like you to come on the journey in shaping our City Centre during the evening period.  We are developing an Evening Economy Policy and would like to know your thoughts on what the City Centre should look like between 5pm and midnight.

An evening economy includes everything that happens in the city centre between 5pm and midnight from cafes, restaurants, small bars, shopping, museums, art galleries, sporting events, theatre, music, markets, and other activities.

It also brings economic, social and cultural benefits to the city.

Please take a moment to have your say. You can complete the survey, participate in the discussion forum help and/or upload your photo to the ‘Picture Your Evening’ photo competition.

175418 baby disco the family friendly disco event in the city

In England they have family friendly evening disco's playing daggy old music from the 70's and 80's. This would be a fantastic way to bring families into the city for a fun evening. As the saying goes ' a family that plays together stays together'. :)

    Public art

Creating a public art program much like the one in Sydney where the council could commission the artworks of local artist and develop opportunities for the creative community of Wollongong to challenge and delight the public.

    Night market wide

These markets have a great, energetic, fun, family friendly vibe. The musics pumping, there's heaps of stalls with a great range of products too buy that won't break the bank. The stall owners engage with the public by selling cool puppets, fluro tops and balls and things that are fun to use at night. I felt 100% safe, relaxed and happy and it was one of my highlights of this holiday

Great warm, relaxed atmosphere.  Lost of quirky art work, to make you think and smile, great tourist attraction, pristine beach and safe water.  Great choice of restaurants for all tastes and budgets.  Great public BBQ's and picnic sheds.  Attractions for little kids and big kids.   Made us want to go back
