Emissions Reduction Target

Consultation has concluded

In August this year, Council recognised that we are in a state of climate emergency which requires urgent action by all levels of government, industry and the community.

One of the ways Council is taking action is through the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy.

Council is required under the Global Covenant of Mayors to set an emissions reduction target. On behalf of the community, it is proposed to set a target of net zero emissions by 2050. Prior to setting a target, Council would like to hear your thoughts and feedback.

Read the report and business paper and FAQs to find out more about how we set the draft target and what it means for our local government area.

Let us know your views on the draft target by using the feedback form below.

We also invite your ideas on the actions you think our community should focus on to accelerate emissions reductions.

Feedback closes 5pm Friday 8th November.
