Deer Survey

Council has been working with the community and government agencies to try and reduce the negative impacts of deer since 2006.

Despite the efforts of a coordinated professional culling program operating in our area since 2011, and the independent efforts of landowners hunting deer on their private property, we have only managed to slow down the expansion of deer in the Illawarra.

Although it would be ideal to safely and humanely eradicate deer from our area, it is not currently possible due to the deer living in areas where there are very limited opportunities for safe culling.

Council is asking for your help to understand where deer are impacting residents the most.

By completing the short survey below you will help us develop strategies to reduce these issues, knowing that deer are likely to be an ongoing presence in our area.

In addition to the survey, you can register your deer sightings at https://feralscan.org.au/deerscan/
