What is a Master Plan and why do we need one for Corrimal Heated Pool?

A Master Plan gathers the community vision for a recreational space and uses this information to development a concept design.

The Future of Our Pools Strategy 2014 identified priorities for aquatic provision in the community.

One of the key priority actions in the strategy was to prepare a Master Plan for Corrimal Heated Pool to inform future redevelopment of this recreation facility.

What area will be considered for the Master Plan?

Corrimal Heated Pool is located on Short Street, Corrimal and situated between Corrimal Library, Corrimal Community Centre and Ziems Park. The Corrimal Heated Pool Draft Master Plan will include the area as indicated in the attached map. The current facilities include a 50m heated pool (open annually), 25m heated pool and toddlers pool (open seasonally), swimming club house, accessible amenities block and green space.

What can I give feedback on?

Previous feedback from the community during the development of The Future of Our Pools Strategy 2014 identified a number of key areas for the future redevelopment of Corrimal Heated Pool.

Council is now seeking community feedback to prioritise those key areas of focus to inform the Corrimal Heated Pool Draft Master Plan 2017.

What are the key focus areas that the Master Plan will focus on?

The key focus areas for community comment are:

  • Additional amenities and facilities e.g gym, café, retail opportunities etc.

  • Wet and dry children’s play area.

  • Upgrades to include cover/shade.

  • Access and amenities for people with disabilities.

  • Enclose 25 metre heated pool with incorporated amenities.

  • Update or improve the showers and change rooms.

  • Provision of additional Children’s programs.

  • Provision of Adults programs.

How can I contribute to the Master Plan?

Who will make the final decisions and how will the Draft Concept Master Plan be implemented?

To develop the Draft Concept Master Plan, Council will review community feedback taking into consideration community priorities, costing of the options and future capital budgets.

Once a Draft Concept Master Plan for Corrimal Heated Pool is developed, it will be placed on exhibition and the community will have the opportunity to provide further comments.

Council will review any further comments on the Draft Plan before endorsing a final Corrimal Heated Pool Master Plan.

Once Council adopts a final Plan, funding allocations can be considered in Council’s annual planning process. This may involve staged and prioritised implementation of the Plan over a 10+ year period according to available Council budget and external funding that can be sourced.

Updates on the Plan will be provided on Council’s website.
